The Beautiful Game, The Ugly Queue. World Cup season. Every pub and fan zone in Kent is rammed. People are drinking for hours before kick off. It's class, until it isn't.

Here's how to enjoy every match and actually get home safely.

SORT YOUR TAXI BEFORE YOU GO OUT	Seriously, book your taxi home before you leave the house, not at midnight when you're outside competing with hundreds of other people. Unlicensed taxis after big games are a real risk. Only use licensed, booked vehicles.
EAT BEFORE YOU DRINK	Classic one, but it matters especially if you're at a fan zone from 2pm for a 9pm kick off. Pacing yourself over a long session is what stops a great night turning into a bad situation.
KEEP TENSIONS IN CHECK	Rivalries escalate fast when there's alcohol and emotion involved. If someone's looking for trouble, don't give them what they want. Walk away and tell security staff that's literally what they're there for.
STICK TOGETHER LEAVING	The moment after the final whistle is chaotic. Don't wander off alone. Agree a post match meet up point inside before the final 10 minutes, so you leave together.
DON'T LEAVE A DRUNK FRIEND ALONE	This one's on all of you. If someone in your group has had too much, they don't walk home alone, they don't get in a random car and they don't get left outside. One person gets them sorted rotating responsibility if needed.
CHECK ON YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD	After big England games especially anti-social behaviour spikes. If you don't feel safe walking home, wait it out inside a venue, call for a licensed taxi, or contact a friend. Don't take risks.
