WHAT WE DO
SURVEILLANCE THAT ACTUALLY MATCHES
Installing CCTV cameras is only half the solution. Without someone actively monitoring the feeds, footage is only useful after the fact. Our SIA Public space surveillance licensed operators watch your cameras in real time, maintaining awareness across multiple feeds simultaneously and reacting the moment something looks wrong.

When an incident is detected, operators communicate directly with on site security teams, alert the police or escalate to our mobile response officers, turning observation into action in seconds rather than hours.

All monitoring is carried out in full compliance with data protection legislation and GDPR. Footage handling storage and disclosure procedures follow strict protocols to ensure legal compliance at every stage.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
CCTV MONITORING FAQS
Do I need to install new cameras or can you monitor my existing system?
In most cases we can work with your existing CCTV infrastructure, provided it meets minimum technical standards for remote monitoring (sufficient resolution, network connectivity and appropriate camera positioning). We'll carry out a technical assessment as part of onboarding. If your current system isn't suitable, we can advise on upgrades or connect you with accredited installers.
What qualifications do CCTV operators need?
All professional CCTV operators are required by law to hold an SIA Public Space Surveillance (CCTV) Licence. At Akon Security, our operators additionally hold GDPR and data protection compliance training, observation and incident reporting skills certification, conflict management training and emergency procedures qualifications.
How does CCTV monitoring work alongside physical security?
A CCTV operator watching your site can instantly direct a mobile patrol officer or site guard to a specific location based on what they're seeing on camera turning passive observation into an active, coordinated response. We can build integrated packages that combine CCTV monitoring, mobile patrols and alarm response into a single solution.
Is the monitoring GDPR compliant?
Yes. All our CCTV monitoring operations comply fully with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. This includes lawful processing of footage, appropriate retention periods, secure storage and controlled access. Our operators are trained in data protection obligations and we can provide documentation supporting your own GDPR compliance responsibilities
Can you provide evidence footage if an incident occurs?
Yes. Our operators prepare footage evidence packages in the event of an incident, ensuring the material is correctly preserved, timestamped and formatted for use by police or legal proceedings. Incident reports are prepared alongside footage, providing a complete evidential record.
