Close Protection Officers at Akon provide discreet, effective personal security for clients who require a higher level of personal safety, whether due to public profile, business exposure, or personal risk. Your responsibilities include threat assessment, route planning, escort duties, and maintaining absolute confidentiality at all times.
CPOs must balance operational effectiveness with discretion, our clients require protection that doesn't announce itself. You'll be trained and experienced in situational awareness, defensive tactics, and emergency response, with the ability to think clearly under pressure.

Close Protection is a specialist role that demands exceptional discipline, composure, and professionalism. It suits experienced security professionals who have completed formal CP training and want to apply that training in a well-managed, client-focused environment. Veterans, former police, and experienced SIA-licensed professionals with a background in personal protection are particularly encouraged to apply.

What experience level do you require for Close Protection roles?
We require proven CP experience alongside the SIA Close Protection Licence. This doesn't necessarily mean years of dedicated full-time CP work, but you should be able to demonstrate that you've applied your CP training in a real-world context, whether through formal CP employment, military close protection duties, or equivalent documented experience. We review all applications individually and welcome a conversation about your background.
What type of clients and assignments does Akon handle?
We serve a range of clients including corporate executives, high-net-worth individuals and their families, media and entertainment figures, and private individuals facing specific personal risk. Assignments range from single-day event coverage to ongoing protective arrangements. All enquiries and placements are handled with full confidentiality, we don't discuss client details at any stage.
Is driving a requirement?
A full UK driving licence is required for all CP roles. For assignments involving vehicle-based protection or secure transport, defensive and evasive driving qualifications are also required. If you hold these qualifications, please indicate this clearly in your application, it significantly broadens the assignments we can consider you for.
How is the confidentiality of my own application handled?
CP applications are handled directly by our senior operations team and are not shared with any third party. We understand that many CP professionals value their own privacy as much as their clients' your application is treated accordingly.
What's the process from application to first assignment?
Applications are reviewed by our senior team. If there's a match, we'll arrange a confidential conversation to discuss your experience, availability, and the types of assignment that suit your profile. Vetting, DBS, and licence verification follows. Once cleared, you'll be matched to assignments as they arise, we won't rush a placement that isn't the right fit for you or the client.
