QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
FAQS
What events does Akon Security work at?
We work at a wide range of events across Kent, music festivals, outdoor concerts, county fairs, university events, nightclub and bar events, corporate functions, charity fundraisers, Christmas markets, sporting fixtures, and private events. The variety is one of the best things about being part of the events team. We'll match you to events that fit your experience and availability, and build from there.
How does the events team differ from standard venue door work?
While door work typically involves a fixed posting at a single venue on a regular schedule, events work involves a different site, environment, and team combination on almost every shift. You'll encounter larger crowds, more complex logistics, and a greater range of roles within a single event, from gate entry to backstage protection to crowd monitoring. It requires more adaptability but offers significantly more variety.
Can I work in both the events team and as a door supervisor at venues?
Yes and many of our team do exactly this. A Door Supervisor licence qualifies you for both, and combining venue work with events shifts is a great way to maximise your hours and build the broadest possible experience. Let us know at application that you're interested in both, and we'll consider you for all appropriate work
Is there a minimum commitment required?
No fixed minimum, but we do ask that you keep your availability updated and communicate in advance when you're unavailable. Events require reliable staffing and we plan rosters carefully, officers who are consistent and communicative get first call on the best shifts. If you're looking for genuinely flexible, pick-your-own-shifts work, events is one of the most flexible parts of our operation.
How far in advance are events scheduled and how will I know about upcoming shifts?
We aim to give team members as much notice as possible for upcoming events, typically at least one to two weeks for planned events, sometimes more for large festivals and fixtures that are booked months in advance. We communicate shifts via WhatsApp group and direct message from our operations team. Last-minute additions do happen in events work, and officers who are available for short-notice shifts are always valued.
