Festival season is literally one of the best things about summer. Thousands of people, epic music, freedom. But big crowds + exhaustion + alcohol is a combination that catches people off guard every single year.
Here's what actually matters.
BUDDY SYSTEM — NO EXCEPTIONS | Pick a meeting point before you go in, not your tent, something obvious like a food stall or landmark. Agree on it before your phone dies. Never leave a mate behind at a stage or campsite alone |
CHARGE EVERYTHING | Bring a fully loaded power bank. Your phone is your lifeline. No charge = no way to call for help, find your friends, or get home. This one is non negotiable. |
WATCH YOUR DRINK | Spiking happens at festivals. Never leave your drink unattended, cover it when you're in a crowd and never accept one poured by someone you don't know or trust. Getting dizzy way faster than expected is a red flag tell your mates or find security immediately |
CROWD SURGE - MOVE SIDEWAYS | If a crowd surge hits, don't fight against it. Keep your arms slightly raised to protect your chest, breathe and move diagonally toward the edge never into the thicker centre. Know where the exits are before the headliner starts |
SECURE YOUR STUFF | Pickpockets work festivals like a job. Keep your phone, cards and cash in zipped front pockets or a crossbody bag. Don't take valuables you'd be devastated to lose. |
KNOW WHERE HELP IS | When you arrive, walk the site. Find the first aid tent, welfare area, and security staff locations. If anything feels wrong you, a friend, or someone else go straight there. No judgement, ever. |
