WHAT WE DO

THE EYES, EARS & FRIENDLY FACE OF YOUR EVENT.

Event stewards are the people your guests interact with most. They're the ones directing them to their seats, answering questions, managing queue flow, keeping spaces calm and critically spotting problems early and escalating them before they become incidents. Good stewarding is invisible when it works and obvious when it's absent.

Our stewards hold the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events (or equivalent), alongside emergency first aid awareness, crowd management training and safeguarding and equality awareness. They're deployed in Akon-branded hi-visibility vests, visually distinct from security personnel because stewards and security serve different functions and your guests should be able to identify the right person to approach.

We provide stewarding as a standalone service or as part of an integrated events safety package that combines stewards, SIA door supervisors and crowd management officers under a single command structure giving event organisers complete oversight through one Akon point of contact.

Level 2 Stewarding Award

All our stewards hold the Level 2 Award in Understanding Stewarding at Spectator Events the industry standard qualification covering crowd safety, emergency procedures and spectator welfare.

First Aid

Emergency first aid awareness training ensures our stewards can respond appropriately to medical situations while emergency services are called critical in environments where professional first aiders may not be immediately adjacent.

Safeguarding & Vulnerability

Trained to recognise and respond appropriately to vulnerable individuals including those showing signs of distress, intoxication, or predatory threat. Our stewards know who to involve and how, quickly and discreetly.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

STEWARDING SERVICES FAQS

What is the difference between a steward and a security officer at an event?

An SIA licensed security officer (door supervisor) is authorised to carry out security activities at licensed premises including searching individuals, managing access and using physical intervention where legally justified. An event steward is not SIA licensed and does not carry out these functions. Their role is crowd safety, guest management, information provision and early escalation. Most events benefit from both working together.

How many stewards does my event need?

Seated venues, events with alcohol and events with a younger demographic typically require higher than average ratios. We'll provide a staffing recommendation as part of your quote, based on your specific event details and any applicable licensing conditions.

Can stewards be deployed alongside your security and crowd management teams?

Yes and this is our recommended approach for most events above 500 people. We provide all three services and when we supply an integrated team, they operate under a unified radio network and a single Akon Security operational lead meaning faster communication, cleaner command and better outcomes for your event.

Are your stewards experienced with outdoor events in Kent?

Yes. We've stewarded events across Kent including county shows, outdoor festivals, community events and university functions. Our team is familiar with the specific challenges of outdoor stewarding in the South East variable weather, large footprints, complex dispersal routes and mixed audiences.

Can you provide stewards at short notice?

In many cases, yes. We maintain a pool of qualified stewards available for short notice deployment across Kent. While larger events benefit from advance planning, smaller deployments can often be arranged within 48–72 hours. Contact our operations team with your event date, location, expected attendance and staffing requirement.
